Announcements:
I am looking for a few volunteers to set up a Halloween activity for the class. Usually I have parents bring in a little snack and a craft for the kids to do, and I then I have some other educational things that we do to celebrate. If you'd like to volunteer to bring in a craft or a snack, let me know, I'd love to have you in! We will be doing Halloween parties and activities on November 1st. It's a half day, and the district has decided to do costumes and parties on that day. I will be sending out several reminders as we get closer to Halloween. Reading: Schema was our comprehension skill this week. Schema is everything we have in our heads that we use to interpret and understand the words we read. Ask your kids what their schema is for schema! Writing: Rough drafts are coming together on our first narrative story, where we are learning about story elements and publishing our writing. Math: Review was the name of the game this week, because we have a math test on Monday! You should have seen a practice test and a self reflection sheet come home on Thursday. They should already know what they need to focus on, so give it a look this weekend! Science: We did a neat experiment this week looking at what happens to the strength of magnetic fields as they get farther and farther apart. Ask them what happens. Social Studies: There was not a lot of time for social studies this week, but we are beginning to look at major US cities and why they were founded where they are. Comments are closed.
