Announcements:
Our first week back in fourth grade has been great! The kids have been focused and ready to go, so we got a lot done. Reading: The class has been working with informational books this week, mostly dealing with social studies topics from before break. They focused in on text features, taking time to find them and decide why the author decided to use them. Writing: We will be writing an opinion piece for our first writing project of the new year, and the kids spent this week coming up with ideas and starting to outline their paper. Math: We finished long division this week! The kids couldn't be happier that it's over, and I'm feeling pretty good about it too. It was a long and difficult process, but the kids did a great job in the end. We are moving on to a special graphing unit for a few days while we do NWEA tests next week. Science: Investigation 5 has started now, and the kids are learning all about waves and how they are related to energy transfer. We got to play with a noise maker, a tub of water, and the kids made waves using ropes out in the hallway. Social Studies: We are wrapping up a unit on human geography in the United States, specifically focusing on how people use resources that are found around the country. |
