Announcements:
Things are almost back to normal! We got a lot done this week, and if we can dodge any more bad weather next week we just might get a full five days in. Don't forget that book fair is next Thursday at 8:20, and don't forget that Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are half days. Reading: We're reading informational text right now, mostly about economics. While reading, the kids look for details that add to their understanding of the main idea. While they find them, they also sort them into categories of important or interesting. This helps them to sort information in their mind and store what is most useful. Writing: We are done with opinion papers and are now starting the 4th grade biography! The class will choose their subjects next week. Math: We spent most of the last two weeks learning how to solve the dreaded story problem! It helps to take a systematic approach to solving them, and the kids have shown some good progress. Science: The class took a comprehensive assessment on our energy unit this week, and so for I've been impressed with the kids' results. We'll take a quick break from science to do geometry, but then we'll be on to Earth science. Social Studies: Economics is still our focus here, and this week we specifically concentrated on the ideas of price, supply, and demand. Comments are closed.
