Announcements:
None this week! Reading: Books contain a lot of information, and this week our focus was on filtering out only the important stuff. What do we need to know? What can we let go of? Determining importance is something every reader needs to do well. Writing: This week we finished and finally printed our narrative story, and we are are to writing our next piece. The kids will be working on paragraph and essay structure as they write an opinion essay. Math: The class has been working very hard in math, and when I introduced 4x1 multiplication this week, it was no problem. They picked it up early in the week and spent the rest of the time practicing to iron out mistakes. Science: Energy travels in waves, and the kids were looking at those waves all this week. Social Studies: We learned about the five major US regions this week, and the kids will continue to learn about those as they read books in our guided reading groups during reading time.
