Announcements:
We will be doing Halloween parties and activities on November 1st. It's a half day, and the district has decided to do costumes and parties on that day. I will be sending out several reminders as we get closer to Halloween. Reading: A good reader uses detail that an author gives and creates a movie in their head, and that is what we practiced this week. Visualization is a very important tool for understanding text, and the kids did a great job with it. Writing: We put the finishing touches on our stories and started printing this week. I hope to speed the process up on our next piece! Math: Multiplication is hard and requires a lot of focus, and the class did a fantastic job of that this week. We are multiplying 2 digit numbers by 1 digit numbers, something that's not as easy as it sounds! Everyone is doing a great job though, and next week we'll get into 3 and 4 digit numbers. Science: Force, motion, and momentum were on our list to explore this week, and the kids learned some interesting things. Ask them about energy and what they learned about balls rolling down ramps. Social Studies: We can learn a lot from maps, and that's just what the kids spent this week doing. They learned to read climate, elevation, and population density maps in order to learn more about the United States. Comments are closed.
